The IMB estimates that 53 ships were hijacked worldwide in 2010 - 49 of them off Somalia's coast - and says a record 1,181 hostages were taken.
The problem also appears to be growing. Overall, there were 445 pirate attacks in 2010, a 10% rise from 2009, the IMB says.
Meanwhile, maritime piracy costs the global economy between $7bn (£4.4bn) and $12bn (£7.6bn) a year, according to a separate study by a US think tank.

Somali vigilantes have captured 12 armed pirates in two boats, as coastal communities begin to fight back against the sea raiders. Regional leaders at Alula and Bargaal in Somalia's northern Puntland region told the BBC they have put together a militia of fishermen to catch pirates. They decided to act as they were fed up with their fishing vessels being seized at gunpoint by the ocean-going bandits.

Pirate Wars

so the Yemeni navy can be hired to escort shippers through the gulf of Aden.which is a good idea on their part why not make a little scratch off the fact you can't control your territory.meanwhile other countries patrol it out of  their own interests and the benefiter of their countries.so as Yemen grapples with two wars in its north and south and a burgeoning al qeada presence not to mention the early commented piracy problems of its coast.this imagine what would happen if the alqeada group al shabab teamed up with al qeada in the Arabian  peninsula.  it seems to me i heard something about al shabab fighting with the pirates in somalia which maybe the only reason why they haven't teamed up yet?

In other news Haitian blame the U.N of the cholera epidemic. which got me thinking if the U.N is part of a nwo type system with the desires of a smaller population for the planet why not kill off the Haitians.WHAT REALLY HAPPEN REMAINS TO BE SEEN THERE IS A REAL LIKELY HOOD THE THAT THE UN DID DO THIS BUT BY ACCIDENT since there was a outbreak occurring in Nepal and alot of the un workers  are  from from  nepal
